Coffee for hair?

How many of us start our day with a hot cup of coffee?

This centrues old tradition can be found in almost every household pantry. But have you ever wondered what else coffee can be used for?

Here are ways that coffee can benefit the hair when applied topically.

Coffee is known to be a stimulant so its no surprise that it works wonders on your hair, stimulating your scalp to increase hair growth.

It's also a great hair loss treatment. The caffeine in coffee stimulates the hair follicle, keeping them alive, which can result in thicker hair through reduced shedding.

Ever notice how coffee stains? It can also enhance your hair colour. Coffee can be used as a hair rinse, giving your hair rich deep colour tones.

Try this DIY coffee hair mask to add a healthier, smooth, shine to your mane.


COFFEE HAIR TREATMENT Ingredients

1 tdsp instant coffee

1 tsp castor oil

1 tsp extra virgin raw coconut oil

2-3 drops peppermint essential oil

2 tbsp yogurt

  1. Toss in your oils. (coconut, castor and peppermint)

  2. Add the coffee powdee and mix until blended smoothly

  3. Add in the yogurt and mix thoroughly

  4. Apply mask directly to scalp.

  5. Next, work the mask from your scalp through the ends of your hair, adding more as you go

  6. Massage scalp for a few minutes, wrap hair in a dampened microfiber towel and cover with a plastic cap to keep in moisture.

  7. Put on a heating cap for 30 minutes or, relax watching a movie and let your hair soak up the goodness of your caffinated mask.

  8. After two hours, shampoo and condition your hair like normal to rinse it out.


    Simple Coffee Rinse

    Brew 2-4 cups of espresso or strong coffee. Allow it to cool. Use one of the following methods:

    1. Pour over your hair after you shampoo and condition. Leave it in while you finish the rest of your shower. Then gently rinse.

    TIPS:

    Do not use instant coffee since it may contain additives that can damage your hair.
